The allure of a of an intimate and luxurious wedding is becoming popular amongst our clients for 2015 and we thought it was time to expose some of the capitals venues that are perfect for these small, sumptuous affairs.
Situated in the heart of London is Asia House. Formerly a private residence, this 18th century venue offers couples a unique and elegant space for their wedding day. A central sweeping staircase, with a glass dome at its peak invites guests up to the elegant Fine Rooms. These three great rooms with adorned ceilings, painted with renaissance scenes and hung with great chandeliers are the epitome of sophistication. Ceremonies can take place in front of the stunning bay windows in Fine Room 2 with guests then enjoying champagne and canapés in the adjoining Fine Room 3, whilst the newlyweds have pictures taken in the venues very own library. When entertaining in a venue such as this, the theme of the day should complement its surroundings and so what better way to celebrate than by offering your guests a lavish 5 course meal in the grandeur of Fine Room 1. With its marble fireplace, stunningly high ceilings and neutral colour tone this room can be transformed into the most decadent dining room. Following dinner the smooth sounds of a swing band can entice guests to enjoy cocktails and dance the night away before the bride and groom depart for the iconic Langham Hotel.
For those couples who crave something less traditional and really want to wow their guests then the iconic Tower Bridge and the historic Seventy Eight Bishopsgate are the perfect venues. One of the most unique spaces in London to get married has to be the North Tower Lounge within Tower Bridge. Located on the 3rd level of the bridge this room offers couples an exceptional view of the River Thames whilst marrying in a wonderfully historic space. Hire of this room also entitles all guests access to The Walkways where they can enjoy the unparalleled views of London’s skyline while the bride and groom have exclusive access to the bridges balconies on level 5. The newlyweds can then enjoy a tour of the city with guests on a route master bus before arriving at Seventy Eight Bishopsgate in the heart of the Square Mile. This beautiful venue is one of the few surviving medieval churches in the City and is a fascinating hybrid of ancient and modern complete with secret garden for champagne and canapés. The nave of the church provides an ethereal backdrop for a dinner of up to 70 guests and can then easily be reset to allow for dancing and a fabulous bar and lounge area so everyone can dance the night away.
Finally, for those devoted foodie couples out there, they need look no further than the charmingly rustic, One Cathedral Street. This great Victorian building is a hidden gem and is nestled right next to Borough Market with views out to Southwark Cathedral. This former historic home of the Borough Market Trustees (circa 1897) is spread over two floors. The ground floor offers a lovely space for arrival drinks and cocktails whilst the 1st floor is perfect for a creative and personalised dinner for up to 60 guests. Being part of Borough Market, this venue lends itself to couples who really want to experiment with their wedding menu and are keen to make use of the array of fabulous ingredients and produce that this exceptional market offers. Our catering company, Seasoned, will work in partnership with the various stall holders to provide couples with a completely bespoke menu. Couples can choose to theme each course around countries they have visited or perhaps design a tasting menu with a dish that is based around each of the seven continents. Any couple who chooses this venue should embrace the uniqueness of the space and the fact that their wedding breakfast is being held in one of the most renowned food markets in the world, a home of chefs, restaurateurs, passionate amateur cooks and people who just happen to love eating and drinking.
